James Yocuté is a Los Angeles–based photographer and painter whose work moves between observation, memory, and everyday life. Working across both film and digital photography, his practice focuses on quiet moments, fleeting gestures, and the strange humor found within ordinary environments. Alongside photography, his paintings explore ideas of identity, inheritance, and personal symbolism through familiar objects and forms. Yocuté received his Bachelor of Arts in Art with a Design emphasis from California Lutheran University. His work has been exhibited in Southern California, including at the Los Angeles Center of Photography, Kwan Fong Gallery, William Rolland Gallery and Helms District. Influenced by photographers such as Saul Leiter, Diane Arbus, and Garry Winogrand, his work embraces instinct, experimentation, and the imperfections of the photographic process. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.Download a PDF of James Yocuté’s 2026 CV
